Channeling is an age-old process in which an individual allows a discarnate being to speak through him or her. Michael is a group of 1050 individual souls working in cooperation who have completed their lifetimes on the physical plane. There are several Michael channels and books about the Michael teachings. These teachings address many age-old questions, such as "How did we become who we are?" "Why are we here?" "Where are we going?" and "How does the universe work?" In addition, The Journey of Your Soul seeks to shed light on questions about channeling itself such as "How does channeling work?" "Why do different channels receive apparently or actually conflicting information?" "Should channels charge money?" and "What does it take to be a channel?" This may be the first analytical book about channeling written by a channel.
Michael teaches that we are eternal beings journeying from the Tao and back again in an adventure of exploration and creativity. Each step along the way, we make choices that shape our experience. For example, after committing to a series of lifetimes on a planet, we choose one of seven roles, which is like a career or style: artisan, king, server, priest, sage, scholar and warrior. When planning an individual lifetime, we make other choices called overleaves that form our personality and allow specific achievements. As with the roles, there are seven each of the goals, modes, attitudes, etc.
Despite the grand picture painted, people typically find that the insights they gain from the Michael teachings are highly useful and liberating. They help us understand why things are the way they are and how we can effectively work with them. This results in increased acceptance of ourselves and others, ultimately leading to agape, or unconditional love, which Michael teaches is our highest goal.

Shepherd Hoodwin is a Laguna Beach, California channel, workshop leader, and teacher.
