Channeling is a means of communicating with any consciousness that is not in human form by allowing that consciousness to express itself through the channel (or channeler). Most commonly, the term channeling refers to communication with spirit guides, who are astral, and with high-plane teachers who are on planes above the astral. Although the universe contains an infinite variety of consciousness that could theoretically be channeled.

The most common form of communication with nonphysical consciousness is with people who have passed on, but that is usually referred to as "mediumship" rather than channeling (the Whoopi Goldberg character in the movie Ghost was a medium.) Although there is overlap, channeling usually refers to accessing higher knowledge in order to support spiritual growth and to gain greater clarity about one's life.

Introduction

Channeling occurs through the "higher centers," which are dormant in most of us but which can be opened with practice. Higher centers are the parts of us that can connect with universal love, truth, and kinetic energy. They are like radios that can be tuned in to the frequency of the channeled entity. The "signal" is generally received first by the crown chakra. In verbal channeling, it then stimulates the sixth chakra (the third eye) and the brain, searching the subconscious for correlating words. Either the entity, the channel, or both, working together in cooperation, select the specific words that seem to best express the thoughts.

Channeling is similar to playing piano: almost anyone who applies himself can probably learn to do it, at least a little, and even a casual study of it can be enriching. However, learning to do it well requires a lot of energy and commitment, and obviously, it comes more easily to some people than to others.

Furthering our skills in this lifetime, whatever they are, can lead to being born with more "talent" in those areas in future lifetimes.

Types of Channeling

  • Conscious Channeling - The channel is aware of his surroundings and of the information he is receiving.
  • Semi-Conscious Channeling - The channel is aware of the information coming through, but has little memory of it afterwards.

  • The Spirits' Book - (By Allan Kardec) - Classic text from the 19th century that launched the Spiritism movement. Reincarnation was a central tenet of Kardec's doctrines, and played a central role in his ceremonies — where the spirits of deceased persons were invoked with the help of channels. Kardec's work would later become known as either Kardecism or Spiritism. Nowadays the largest body of believers in Spiritism reside in Brazil. When you consider that the Kardec doctrines were channeled in the mid 1800's, the material is surprisingly in tune with many modern principles widely accepted today. 
  • Spirit Teachings - (By W. Stainton Moses) - the result of "automatic writing", Spirit Teachings, is regarded as Spiritualism's greatest classic. Its author, the Rev. W. Stainton Moses, regarded as the man who gave Spiritualism its "bible," was one of the most remarkable mediums of the last century. Here, is contained the religious, philosophical and ethical implications of Spiritualism, as viewed by the spirit world. The communicators gave clear evidence of their high purpose and furnished Stainton Moses with irrefutable proofs of Survival.
  • A Course in Miracles - A Course In Miracles (or ACIM) is a book devoted to spiritual teaching that was received through the process of "Inner Dictation" between 1965 and 1978 by Helen Schucman, with assistance and support from William Thetford. Inner dictation is generally regarded by those knowledgeable in such areas as a variant form of channeling. Helen was a professor of clinical psychology at Columbia University in New York City. William Thetford was a professor of medical psychology at that same university's College of Physicians and Surgeons, and was also Helen's direct supervisor. Students of ACIM tend to believe that the ‘voice’ that dictated these teachings to Mrs. Schucman was none other than the voice of the historical Jesus.

  • Collection of Seth Quotes - A poet and psychic, Jane Roberts wrote a number of books including "The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events", "The Unknown Reality" and "The Nature of Physical Reality".   • John Payne - is a gifted, internationally known trance channel and metaphysical teacher. After studying Light Body with Sanaya Roman (author of Living with Joy), he spent several years traveling the globe offering workshops and lecturing in Germany, the U.S., South Africa, Scandinavia, Croatia, and the Netherlands. John left his work as a software consultant in 1991 to dedicate his life to bringing an uplifting message of joy to humanity together with his guide Omni. He has written articles for several U.S.-based metaphysical journals such as the Sedona Journal of Emergence, Horizons, and the Auroran, and is a regular writer for Namaste magazine of South Africa. He also actively conducts Family Constellation workshops around the world.
  • David Gregg - is the webmaster of New Age Village and the Michael Teachings website. He is a musician, writer, and channels privately for means of personal growth and enlightenment.
